The Tippecanoe Community Garden provides a permanent resting place for your loved one’s ashes. Unlike a scattering garden, ashes are placed securely into the ground within a shared vault beneath a granite base. A memorial marker commemorates the space.

Beneath the Community Garden sits a secure concrete vault, two feet under the surface. A pipe runs from the center of the vault straight up into the granite pedestal that marks it above ground.
Your loved one's cremated remains will be placed into a private, secure sleeve. The sleeve will then be carefully lowered into the Community Vault and the vault will be resealed.
Their name will be added to a marker that is placed in the Community Garden above the vault.
Permanent - A place that will be there for generations
Simple - No complicated maintenance or decisions later
Free - If your loved one was cremated by Tippecanoe Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, a free placement is included. In addition, we give away ten free placements each month as a public service.

We'll call or email within one business day to confirm your space and walk through the next steps. No payment is required at any point in this process.
A few years ago, a woman came into our office to pick up her mother's cremated remains. We spent some time talking about how she was adjusting to the loss, then gave her the urn she had chosen, already filled and ready to take home.
Two days later, she called us in tears.
She had started cleaning out her mother's house and found four more urns in a closet. Her grandparents, an aunt, and one with no name on it at all. She asked if we could help. We said yes.
That was when we started building what became the Community Garden. One month later, construction was finished, and we were able to give her family a permanent resting place, together, for good.
The Community Garden is now available to any family in the area looking for a dignified final resting place for their loved one. We offer ten free spaces each month.
